If a business does not have sales then it is not trading or generating revenue and will not have time or money for marketing. However, without some marketing in the business mix it will prove more difficult to generate sales. It is all about getting the balance right.

Marketing does not need to cost you money all the time.Productive sales and marketing should generate revenue and increase awareness to some extent.
